Incorporating
Lunebank Riding Centre
Lanquestrian was formerly just Lunebank Riding centre which was set up in 1999 to provide sound riding tuition in a friendly atmosphere and has since gone from strength to strength producing many riders to a high standard. Lunebank Riding Centre was based in Overton on the banks of the Lune Estuary with spectacular views of the surrounding area. In September 2006 we bought the Lanquestrian site at auction comprising of nearly 46 acres of pasture and meadow land in Overton which is on the other side of the village. We are now rolling forwards with big plans for the future and have extended Lunebank Riding Centre and formed Lanquestrian Ltd. Incorporating Lunebank Riding centre into a livery, farm ride, riding club and competition centre as well as the Riding School. We are licensed by Lancaster City Council, and are approved by the Association of British Riding Schools and are a Pony Club Centre. We hold the necessary public liability insurance which with a licence are required by law for operating a horse riding establishment.
The riding centre offers lessons in Equitation, Dressage, Show jumping, Showing and Stable Management aswell as pony rides or hacking to those of 4 years of age or over, beginners to advanced. We have a wide selection of approximately 27 well mannered horses and ponies of all shapes and sizes to suit everyone. Tuition is tailored to your needs and group sizes are kept small to ensure more individual attention. Tuition is organised by our Head Instructress Jeannette O’Callaghan HND, ABRS ITA and is classical in its approach. Riders are put in an appropriate lesson/ride depending upon experience and will usually be with riders of similar ages and/or abilities. Lessons are graded according to the ABRS rider tests which are optional as you progress through the levels. We have direct access to 2 ½ miles of off road riding and for riders experienced in canter we also go further afield to Overton, Sunderland Point, Middleton and the beautiful surrounding shoreline and countryside. As well as lessons we host our own shows and competitions with Showing, Dressage, Show Jumping and Pony Club activities, we also take clients out competing to local shows. As a Pony Club Centre we have our own Pony Club for the children running many activities throughout the year including weekly rallies for riding and horse care and the new Lanquestrian Riding Club now offers adults the equivalent activities. We are also ABRS approved and offer both adults and children the ABRS weekly rider and stable management tests as well as training towards professional qualifications. There are also many social events organised throughout the year for yourself and family and friends which everyone is encouraged to participate in and we hope you will enjoy.
Jeannette has 24 years experience riding and successfully competing in Showing at County standard, Dressage, Show Jumping, Cross country and has worked with top class showing, dressage, show jumping and 3-day event horses as well as working in the horse insurance industry for NFU Mutual. It is hoped that in years to come Lanquestrian Ltd. Can give many people education, enjoyment, training and employment, top class affiliated and unaffiliated competition and facilities that are second to none and become the hub of equestrianism in the North Lancashire area and have a significant contribution to British Equestrianism from grass roots right up to the top.
